Old Testament Lesson

Daniel 12:1-4, 13

There will come a time at the end of this age when there will be a resurrection of the day. Just as Jesus was resurrected, so shall all be who believe upon Jesus. This life is not end, but rather a beginning of true life. We see in the Word that after Jesus is resurrected, He is not just a spirit, but a body. This shows us that this new life, this resurrection will be not just of spirit but of Body. Paul tells us that we will have spiritual bodies, that they will be like what we have now, but different.

What then will they look like? Will will this resurrection of the dead be like? I don't know. It is one of those things that I cannot explain, but simply believe. There are some things in our faith that we can explain. Others, we take on faith. This is one that is told to us over and over again in Scripture. It is true. We must simply believe.

New Testament Lesson

Acts 4:1-12

There is no other name by which we can be saved other than Jesus. We are not saved by church membership, we are not saved by church work, we are not saved by liking our preacher, we are not saved because we are a preacher. We are saved only by believe upon Jesus. Not by works, not by name, not by reputation. Only by Jesus.

Only by belief in Him and by allowing the Holy Spirit to change and transform us. That is life, that is where life is found. Only in Jesus.

Gospel Lesson

John 16:1-15

Jesus tells them, and us, that there will be tough times ahead. There will be times of trial and hurt, there will be times of danger and worry. But, He tells us not to worry, for the Holy Spirit it coming. It will come and give us life, teach us, guide us and lead us. We must live our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. We must open ourselves up to Him and the work of God. We must live in His strength and power. We must allow the Spirit to teach us, guide us, convict us and correct us.

And, in the places we are shown that we must change, then we must change. Only in allowing the Spirit to have free reign in our lives can we know the power of the Spirit. Only in living in the Spirit can we know the power of Jesus.
