Leviticus 16:20-34
We see in this passage not only the sins of individuals are atoned for, but the community. The entire body repents and asks forgiveness of its sin. Sin is personal, but it is also cooperate. Sometimes we must ask the question, "does the body live as it ought?" Do we as the church, or do we as families live as God would have us to? Are we serving? Are we loving? Are we helping? Are we forgiving? Are we feeding the hungry? Are we clothing the naked? Are we caring for the sick?
We as individuals need to pause and reflect upon how we live. But, we as bodies must pause and reflect as well.
New Testament Lesson
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
So many spend so much time trying to figure out the return of Christ. Folks write lots of books about it. People spend a lot of time worrying about it. Paul tells us here, don't focus on that. Don't concern yourself with that. Live as you ought, and all else will be as it should. Today, let us focus on living for God, and we know that He will take care of everything else.
Gospel Lesson
Matthew 6:16-18
Jesus continues to remind us, let us do our works for God for Him to see, not for anyone else. Let us remember that He is the one we live for and He is one whose praise that we most seek to know. Let us today, and always, live for Him!
